«Thi My Lien Nguyen invited us to a collective and ritual moment during the Opening Week of the 22nd Biennial Sesc_Videobrasil.
In her ritual-performance, the Swiss-Vietnamese artist shared her story and guided a reflection on belonging, traditions, food as affection and collectivity. Through her speech and the participation of the audience, she questioned the way we relate to each other, our ways of living together, the notion of "home" and situations of exclusion.
The performance took place at one of the projects of Movimento Sem-Teto do Centro (MSTC): the Cozinha Ocupação 9 de Julho. The performance was followed by a lunch prepared by artist and cook Michel Scherer. Each meal purchased guaranteed another meal for a person in a vulnerable situation, as is customary in the MSTC project.»
